Lubrication oil analysis is an internationally proven condition monitoring tool for extending the lifetime, availability, reliability and time between maintenance for high-cost and mission critical assets, while reducing unscheduled downtime and unnecessary oil changes.
Our suites of analysis provide an accurate tool for
- Monitoring the condition of lubricant oils
- Providing an early warning of other potential sources of damage to the plant or machinery, allowing preventative action to be taken before costly a breakdown, failure or damage to the asset occurs.
TelLab is currently Ireland’s only specialised lubrication oil analysis laboratory, which operates to ISO 9001:2015 standards. We test all oil samples in-house in our laboratories here in Tullow, Co. Carlow.
We analyse for, among other things, traces of metals, debris, water or fuel – all of which, if present, are flags of a problem developing within the oil, engine or plant.

The benefits of an
oil analysis programme
An oil analysis programme will, over time, reveal trends showing how your asset is affected by various increases in productivity or changes in operating conditions. (See Spectrotrack database below
This will allow you to optimise conditions and understand the boundaries in asset performance.
By flagging up developing problems, it will allow you to take corrective action, avoiding costly failures and maximising asset lifetime, availability and reliability.
Your maintenance team will be able to plan resources more effectively, source parts when they are needed and schedule repairs at times when they will minimise financial impact and avoid delays in service delivery.
You will save money by carrying out maintenance and oil changes only when needed as opposed to on a regular time basis.
Having a regular oil analysis programme in place may result in extended warranties and reduced insurance costs for your organisation.

How we work with you
The process is very simple: a small 30 ml sample of oil is taken onsite and placed in a sample jar. We can supply you with the tools to take the sample and the jars.
The sample, analysed in our dedicated oil analysis laboratory, will indicate traces of metals, debris, water or fuel – if present – all of which are flags of a problem brewing within the engine or plant.
The results are evaluated by experienced diagnosticians who trend historic sample information to determine potential problems.
The final report is issued via email and will reach you within 72 hours from sample receipt.
